Meet Tosi

I’m Tosi Ufodike — a mom, educator, public servant, small business owner, and proud Republican candidate for State Representative in Illinois House District 51.

I’m running to lead with purpose — to challenge limits, light a fire in others, and make sure every person in this district has a real shot at building a life they believe in.

What Drives Me

The fire that drives me often starts with how I mother. Whether I’m supporting my daughters, advocating for quality childcare, or making sure every voice is heard—I lead with the same instincts I parent with: to protect, to uplift, and to speak up when something’s not right.

My Roots

I’m the proud daughter of a Nigerian father and an American mother. Growing up at the intersection of two cultures—my father’s West African roots and my mother’s Southern strength—taught me resilience, faith, and a deep respect for opportunity. Those values continue to shape how I lead today.

Throughout my career, I’ve focused on opening doors for others—by building businesses, mentoring young women, and helping people break through barriers that were never meant to hold them back.

Today, I live in Lake County with my husband, our two children, and our beloved dog, Lucky. They are my daily reminder of what’s at stake—and why I won’t back down from the work that needs to be done.

Why I’m Running

District 51 deserves a leader who listens, who acts with courage, and who brings people together to get things done.

I’m not running to play political games. I’m running to fight for:

  • Families trying to stay rooted in Illinois

  • Parents who deserve a say in their children’s education

  • Taxpayers tired of waste and excuses

  • Seniors and small businesses being left behind

If you believe in that kind of leadership — I’m asking you to join me.

Let’s fight forward. Together.
